Case trimmer

check out the Black Widow Trim it ll, for the money,in my opinion, can not be beat for the price
trims, chamfers and deburrs all in one pass. blade life is exceptional,my is still sharp after approx. 7,000 cases

I use WFT's on a couple calibers, as I don't want to mess with the settings/adjustments on the Giraurd 223. The WFT's do fine once set or adjusted, but you still have to chamfer/debur in separate steps as compared to the Giruard. It all depends on your preferences. I have a FA machine, the trim function died on me after about 1K 223 cases, hence the Giruard & WFT's. The 3 other stations work just fine.

Buy this once and cry just once! I remember years ago when I bought mine I thought what the heck I just spent almost 500 bucks on a case trimmer! I have never ever ever regretted it!!
Your right. I bought a Giraud about 6 years ago. When you trim a lot of brass with arthritis in your hands, you really appreciate it over a hand crank.

WFT; chucked in a drill press is nonstop fun! Get the one with the replaceable inserts and each new trimmer is roughly $25.

I was looking at getting a Giraud power trimmer but by the time I get all the holders and cutters I’d be up to $620. Then I saw the Lyman brass smith case trimmer for $120. I’m not expecting the Lyman to be as good but if anyone has dealt with both what’s your opinion? How does the Lyman hold up after heavy use? I trim in batches of 300-500 rounds. It’s time to move on from the LE Wilson trimmer

As tight as I am with my wallet (just ask my wife or kids ;) ), if I were trimming batches of 300-500, I'd go with the Giraud Power Trimmer as it's so fast and does such a good job on chamfering and deburring. Just for the time that's it'd save you is a great value . . . even at $620. And I dare say that it'll hold it's value if for some reason you should decide at some point to get rid of it.

I sure like my Giraud trimmer and haven't seen any that would do better.

I use the Lyman, I am only reloading 6.5 Creedmoor right now so I don't have a lot of set up and testing. I can see the Advantage of the Giraud doing 3 steps at once, I have to trim, chamfer and debur as separate steps. I did 150 rounds last week in about 1 1/2 hours at a moderate pace.

I load 6.5 creedmoor, 30-06, 5.56. I've been using the RCBS case prep center for about 5 years now. It tends to trim with a variability of .006 sometimes.

What I like is that it has the deburring tools attached so while 1 case is trimming I can use the machine to deburr and measure for length.

However the variability can be somewhat annoying.

Did about 100 rounds last night in about 90 minutes. What takes the longest is finding that cases trim too little and I have to retrim.

Other than that it is good.

I use a Hornaday Duo tool for chamfer and deburring. It pretty fast. The Hornaday and the Lyman cost me about $125.00 during my birthday last year from Midway. Serves my purpose.

I bought the Hornady Trio, I use the top one mainly for small rifle primer pockets.

At the other end of he scale is the WCT, the Worlds Cheapest Trimmer

Anyone used it ?

I have the Wilson and more holders than I'd like to admit. I bought the Lyman orange machine with some extra collets to cover what I shoot. I find wearing a thin rubber coated Gardner glove helps rotate the cases. Bottom line is, I really like it! It's fast and easy. I moved the Wilson to storage, for now.

I tried several over the years - Lee, Hornady, LE Wilson, Forster, and finally the Giraud.

I still prefer my Giraud for speed, volume, repeatability and ease of use.

Looks like the Possum Hollow trimmer that I use. Not sure if they are still in business. Maybe a knockoff? Mine works great. Thousands of cases on mine and very fast.

Take a look at Little Crow Gunworks. They have a trimmer that works very well. Works with power tool and can work a number of casings per minute/hour... depending on you! I have one and used it to trim 500 5.56 cases. Very impressed.
