case neck outside diameter

how much clearance should there be between the case neck and a loaded round of a match grade .308, I turn my brass but only enough to make sure it is even, I am using lapua palma brass and it has a wall thickness of .014 after turning

First, what size is your chamber neck? With your cases at .014, you will need at least a .338.. .014+.014 +.308 = .336 ...002 clearance

My reference material sets SAMMI specs for .308 at .3435. If it's a factory rifle you probably have plenty of neck clearance - if it's a custom chamber get the reamer specs. from the builder.

Just measure the neck on a case fired in the chamber. They will usually shrink a .001, but if it`s over .001 the dia. of a loaded round you are good to go. My guess is that it will be much larger unless it`s a custom chamber.
