case burn rate to barrel length

What is the optimum case burn rate to barrel length? I'm using a 308 win. with 46.2g Varget in Lapua cases on a 26' 1-12 barrel.

At what point is all of my powder burned up? And at what length can I cut my barrel to match this powder burn to length ratio.

People always say to cut a barrel you'll loose 50fps/ inch removed.

I'm still looking for a 1K gun. I don't want to mess anything up. Yeah, yeah I could leave it at 26, but. I just want to cut off a few inches. I don't want to cut off to much, JB weld doesn't work that well. :)

gunamonth,

that is great info there. I'm using a 155g Lapua. I would have thought that it would be more complete burn than that. I would have figured it would have completed it's burn in 20' or so. That's good to know.

Maybe I'll have to keep it at 26'.

The reason why i'm asking is because I'm sticking a suppressor on the end and still need it for F-class.
Thanks,

Deano
