What cartridges killed the most game animals, not varmints? Go back as far as possible.

I think those buffalo hunters racked up some impressive totals in the 1800's. The 45-(?) and 50-(?) may have been the most popular cartridges. Which ever it was it's totals would be very high.

I would think the 06, the 30/30 is up there but the 06 seems more popular than any other for hunting in my lifetime. 51 years old.

I have run with more outlaws than Bonnie and Clyde.The 22lr has poached more deer than all other cartridges combined.I know for a fact Kentucky does not have a patent on ignorance so I will claim this has spread to other states!

I just don't see the 30-30 being number 1 on that list. Not with how old the 30-06 is and given the fact that in many areas, the 30-30 came out when many game populations were relatively low.
