Carbon ring

That pic looks significantly out of focus. If it's a Teslong, the focus can be adjusted by screwing the mirror in/out.

That black ring looks to be on the slope that leads up to the start of the bore. If so, it's not protruding in space the bullet would encounter.

Anyone use Carbon Slip 2000, got a jar of it at the NRA Exhibits. If it’s worthless, maybe it will strip the moly off some of my bullets.

I've not used Slip Carbon Killer. But, it won't remove a carbon ring - only some abrasive is going to do that.
That said, there's some possibility that brushing and soaking with Free All might, after a lot of brushing and a LOT of time soaking, remove a carbon ring.
And, I haven't tried Liquid Wrench on a carbon ring. It did loosen up rather quickly an ar gas tube from it's gas block. Quickly enough that I'll try Liquid Wrench on my next carbon ring. I'm betting it's going to take a fair amount of soak time.

Its taken me FAR too long to figger that out. :) Now I just gotta test / prove it. All the same, I ordered a Teslong. As they say...."Seeing is beleiving." :)
They work fine. I use one. There in a cheap aftermarket kit with non adjustable mirrors for standard calibers. They work way better than the adjustable one that constantly seems out of focus.

For the LIFE of me....not sure why I forgot about carbon ring. I clean for it after every single time I shoot my Vudoo ARA gun. I guess I didn't think centerfires high velocity / pressure / combustion would allow carbon to build up? Duh..... I got prolly 2 - 400 rounds thru summa those bbls w/o cleaning the carbon ring.

Well, I did just now and lodged a patch into the freebore / ring area, rotated it 10 - 20 times, and a nice circular carbon smear appeared on the patch.

Mystery solved I guess.....

Teslong bore scopes' are not for the faint of heart, especially when using on factory barrels. I really would hate to do with out one now though..... Really good way to tell where your case length needs to be trimmed to also. Only advice I can give on the carbo fing is better to not let one get to far ahead of you lol...
