Does anyone on the forum have a picture of a carbon ring as seen through a bores cope that you will share? I have a bore scope but don't know what the carbon ring is supposed to look like. Thanks.
And, it's at the beginning of the throat, not the end of the chamber.A couple of examples:
could you tell more about using a spinning brush on a carbon ringsorry i don't have a photo but i use my hawkeye every time i clean a gun and will describe the carbon ring as a very dull dark "ring" at the end of the neck portion of the chamber, just before you go into the bore. the leading edge can be slightly irregular and the length is equivalent to the difference between the chamber length and the length of the cartridge case. if you get at it early you can get if out completely, but if one is established there seems to be a stain left even after removing the carbon material. spinning a stiff nylon brush with a little jb will get the stuff out. good luck.
