Carbon build up

Working up a load for a Critereon barrel in 223. Comparing W748 and Varget. Switching back and forth with Brass and primer changes as well. Seems to have heavy carbon build up. Is it one or the other powder or the changing back and forth?

lack of cleaning, low pressure is a poor burn and lots of carbon.
you aint cleaning enough for what you are doing

You have my head spinning. One change at a time and you will find your answer, but low charges seem to be more dirty as well.

- bore of the barrel?
- outside of the fired case?
Lots of places carbon can show up. Might be different issues.

In respnse to comments; The issue is bore build up. I frequently clean. I am up to charge weights that are approaching but not over any reference max( seeking accuracy). Using 69 gr SMK bullets.

Can you post a bore scope pic? How many rounds cause this issue?

Carbon ring and carbon in the bore are inevitable. You need to step up your cleaning to get the carbon out. You will improve load development and accuracy when you clean to bare metal.
