I been doing powder test with Staball HD and Berger 220grs for the AXSR (300 Norma) and since there's nothing out there for this powder, I went with Retumbo data. I started at 84gr and now I'm at 87.2gr, I finally hit 3000fps with 86.9gr. Lapua brass is not showing any serious pressure signs. I have some, very light marks, but those were from the factory ammo the first firing. AIs have a harder lift and lock up compared to other rifles, maybe because of the 6 lugs, so I can't really tell if there's a hard bolt lift. I might have noticed it one time, but nothing major. Finally hitting 3000fps tells me that I could go more, but I don't know. I hot 3000fps fast with 81.5gr of H1000. I also been trying H50BMG, but stopped because same thing, I was at 92gr with it and everything was normal.
I been able to tell with 300 wm, .308 and 6.5 easily and very quick. All signs were there, hard bolt lift, blown primers, excessive case growth. I haven't trimmed in 2 firings with this Norma and Lapua brass, the web hasn't grown and everything seems fine. I was stuck at the same velocity 2960-2970fps over 1.5gr, but I was told thats normal for such large powder capacity. I'm not after speed, I'm after knowing max pressure and tighter numbers, and also higher case fill. I'd settle for 2970fps where it's been at around 86gr, 86.5gr, but I would like to know where near max is. I'm going to try to go to 88gr to see what happens since I'm already at 87.2gr. Any advice?
