Can't find a GoNoGo Gage

About to add a 300/221 barrel to my Savage switch Bbl. collection, I can't find a Go NoGo gage. Can I use a FL sized case [what little of it there is] to set the bbl's head space ??

Having the correct gauge is a plus, but yes, you can set the headspace with a sized case, just be sure to set your sizing die accordingly .... no need of over working the brass....

Before giving up try here: http://www.pacifictoolandgauge.com/ Dave Kiff might have what you're looking for.
I looked, one wasn';t listed so probably looking at $ 85.00 shipped, :o, I have a friend with a lathe I can trade him something for a copy of a FL sized case

baddog we set my buddys savage up with without a gage
but we followed the instructions of a local smith.
he told us to put a peice of good masking tape on the case head, trim it.
set the barrel up on that, take another case and put two(double) pieces of tape
on the case head and use that case as the no go gage.
so the case with one piece of tape should allow the bolt to close with slight crush
when the bolt is allmost closed, and the case with two pieces of tape the bolt should
not close. that should give you @.005 head space. naturally you have to have a naked bolt
to feel that. by that i mean the fireing pin assembly has to be removed along with the Ejector.

I was with you right up to the "naked bolt" and removing FP & Ej.
Is that naked bolt required with a Go NoGo gage ?? I'm hoping to swap barrels at the range and parts do get lost at the range

i doit all the time, just make sure your ejector sites flush with your bolt head
and your extractor snaps over your rim

baddog i really dont know? i only ever done it that one time with him and thats how we did it. but anytime im checking crush or shoulder set back on any of my rifles i allways remove the fireing pin and ejector plunger to get a free working bolt so i can feel it . but hey thats
just how i do it. I would think it would not be necessary with a metal go, no go gages.but understand that the ejector plunger, bolt fireing pin spring pressure you could cam it hard
enough to tear or not feel the tape method.

A 221 Fireball gauge is used, as it's the parent case.
