As the topic states, can you? According to the diagram there are some slight changes from cartridge to cartridge. But if your I. The 325 WSM bras through a 300 WSM FL size die, you that bump the shoulder so the 325 brass would fit in the 300 chamber and then once fire formed resize and then trim to length? Has anyone done this? Let me know. Thanks

lol i looked at the whole family...i don't think so....
none of them are really the SAME..with just diff neck dia...also have diff neck lengths etc..

on the other hand i have norma 300wsm in weight sorted lots for sale in the components forum

.325 WSM is the reason I never ran out of .300 WSM brass. People don't know that it will work or they forget about it.

Just run the .325 WSM through a .300 WSM F/L sizing die (non bushing type) and it will work perfectly.

.270 WSM, .300 WSM, and .325 WSM are the same except for neck diameters.

+1... what he said.

They are identical except for the neck.

So it will work even though the carriage diagrams in the reloading manuals show slightly different dimensions? It does make sense to me that it should work after FL sizing.

I don't know what diagrames you found - but the official SAAMI diagrames show the two cases exactly the same except for the neck diameter...

... and those diagrames are the ones used by the folks that build standard guns, and factory brass.

Note that Erik didn't say the 7mm WSM was the same. If you're looking at that one, it can confuse the issue.

Back when I couldn't find 325 WSM brass, I used 300 WSM brass necked up with not a single problem, so I see no reason it wouldn't work the other way either..

That's correct, the 7mm WSM has the shoulder pushed forward of the others to prevent chambering it in a .270 WSM.

i was going off quickload drawing, have not looked at saami.
not sure where he gets his data.
300 is 2.100 to the neck and 1.802 to the shoulder
325 is 2.100 to the neck and 1.792 to the shoulder.....10thou shorter....in quickload

so is quick load wrong?...omg!...lol not the first time

but alas quickload is not wrong and the 325 is shorter by 10 thous...
per those who have done it, that is not an issue...must disappear when ya squeeze the neck...or when you shoot it a couple of times.

thanks

.325 to .300 works exactly as Erik described. BTW, my Winchester .325 brass is very good, much better than typical. [br]
The reason there is a dimension difference (1.8021 vs. 1.7921) is the larger neck diameter causes the shoulder to meet the neck at a different longitudinal point. Except for neck diameter, the cases are identical.

If memory serves, the 325 has the shortest shoulder of all the wizzums. And if memory serves, the bases are .555 on all. The shoulder and neck will be sized down. There will probably be extrusion.
It should be no big deal to size 325 to 300. I have a ton of 325 wsm brass. If I rebarrel my 325s to 300 I intend to size it down. Although I find the 325 to be
interesting. The 270wsm is also. But the 300 is the most popular and most likely the one to survive - if any do long term.
That’s why I made sure I got enough brass for my lifetime. And maybe another- lol.
