Can one do this???

Use small magnum pistol primers in place of sm regular pistol primers in 9mm luger or 40cal plinking load safely?Reason i ask is i have some sm mag primers and dont plain on loading any 357, sorry if this has been asked before.

thanks c dub

I think you can but in 40S&W you may want to work up a new load, just to be on the safe side.

Know too the magnum SP primers typically have thicker cups so if your striker's on the weak side of normal you might get mis-fires.

I'd try to find sonebody local to trade with first if I were at your loading bench....

That is a comman practice when useing Bullseye powder or other fast burnning powder where you have a low volume % of powder in case. The idea is that you get better ignition if the powder is near the frount of the case.
