Can I use the 50gr Sierra Blitz 1340 through my .223 1 in 8 barrel?

Hi from the UK where bullets/projectiles are scarcer than Unicorn poop. Need some advice please.
I bought these bullets (green box No1340) to shoot Hares -we are overrun by them. Doing some reading prior to reloading and the Sierra website said "should be used only in “conventional” twist rate barrels (1×12″ or 1×14″). Confusingly they also said "Designed for velocities below 3600 FPS"
I've got a 20" barrel 1in 8 twist. So, according to PMax, my max velocity with Vit N130 powder is going be approx 3350fps
Question for you Guys: Will these bullets blow up on exiting at that speed?

No worries on those BK blowing up at that speed. But they will blow up big time on those rabbits...hope you don't intend to eat them
As they say here in the south..
JUST CHOOT EM!

You could always back the load off a bit. I use the 1340's in my 222 at around 3000 and have had no complaints from the bunnies. - and it's a 1-8 twist.
Thanks. That's reassuring. The 3350fps was a predicted max load using Pmax but I prefer precision over speed so hopefully will get a good load before reaching that. Also prefer a 100% powder burn for night shooting.

I have found a great bullet for Jacks and Yotes to be the 55gr. Barnes MLE. Long for weight as it is lead free, the bullet responds very well to a faster twist, has superb accuracy and is very active on impact.

I’ve shot a lot of these in my 1-14 twist 22-250 but loaded them down to 3400 (by the book). I’m certain they were slower than that. Load some up and try them, you’ll know pretty quick! :)

Definitely maybe. The #1340s on the shelf here read "Blitz medium velocity". I've used them successfully in a Swift & 22-250 Ackley at over 3900 fps, with a 14 twist. You can do the math for the rpm generated, or just try some.

The Hornady 50SX is one of my favorite 223/556 AR bullets for critters. I run them in 1/8 and 1 in 9 barrels, at book max. Fox,raccoon, coyote and smaller targets. Makes for nice short coal, great for magazines as you can still play with seating depth. I imagine the Sierra bullet would be good if not for the rev limit.
