Can I use a 6.5CM Redding Comp seater for 6.5 Lapua?

I already load 6.5 Creedmoor but plan on starting 6.5x47 Lapua. I already have the Redding Type S FL bushing die and Competition seater for the Creedmoor.

Since the cartridges are so similar, do you think I could use the Creedmoor seater to seat bullets in a 6.5x47 Lapua case? I'd rather blow the $100 for a new seater (that may not be necessary) on bullets...

Thanks.

I know I'm going to get blasted for this, but I'd say it will work. Both cases have a 30 deg shoulder, the creed is .462" diameter at the shoulder, the lapua .454", yes in theory it is not supported right, but seating dies don't grip the case anyway.

Just put a good vld chamfer in the case to assist getting the bullet started, and check runout afterward.

There's a ammo company selling 6.5 saum dies, match set, all they are doing for the seater is changing the floating plug from 7 to 6.5, so the sliding sleeve is still 7mm, what you're doing in essence is no different.

Let us know if it works! :)
