Calvin Elite Timney trigger?????

Anyone out there tried or own one of these triggers???? Are they as good as they sound??? Thanks in advance for any info.

I have a couple of the 2 stage Calvin triggers and am happy. They are not BR triggers and are not perfect but do a good job for the price they charge. What type of rifle are you thinking of putting them into?

I have one on a 40xb rimfire and love it. My Son has one on his Bighorn 1000 yard gun and is very happy with it.

No complaints at all.

If it for a Benchrest rifle, DON'T DO IT! I bought one of those darn Calvin Elites when they first came out for a custom built Remington 700 Benchrest 30BR. Tried getting the trigger pull down and the slam fires wouldn't stop coming. Had to constantly reset the trigger adjustment (wouldn't hold it) and finally gave up on it and bought a Jewell. Problem solved. A friend said he thought he could get it to work in his Remington 40X 22BR....same crap. Maybe they corrected the problem, but you couldn't GIVE me a Calvin Elite. But come to think if it, it would make a good expensive fish hook sinker.

Thanks for the replies fellas!!! I am going to be putting together a 700 in 308 just to have a little fun with...I got a Schneider #5 contour barrel, a 40X action {the only one I could find and it has the clip slot} and a McMillan stock. I think it's called the "Remington Hunter"??? and some kind of bottom metal that had to be inletted. The magazine says "Accurate Mag" on it, looks pretty decent cost like heck.
I bought the stock from a guy that didn't end up using it. I have a JGS match reamer and just need a good trigger and to figure out which scope I am going to put on it.
I just took my old McMillan A-2 to a guy to have it Cerra-Koted in one of the Kryptek patterns, if it turns out nice I might do this one the same way. I've had good luck with Timney triggers over the years in hunting/target/fun rifles, I was wondering about this one because for another $100 or so I could have a Jewel.

Not really better, but they will adjust lighter. I really like the flat triggers. If you liked the older model, I think you will like these.

They are ok. Put way too much pressure on the cocking piece and I have actually had a few that would drag then fired when you release the trigger. I have been using a lot less of them. Can't wait for the new Bix tacsport

I have two, a REM 700 one on a 700. And a 700 one on a Barnard. There at about 1 pound, maybe a bit less, still room to go lighter. Iv had no slam fires. I like them.

"way too much pressure"??? You mean when the rifles at battery or after the sear breaks and the striker is falling???? Is this just the Calvin Elite or Timney's in general??? Thanks!!

I have one in a varmint gun and I like it for that application. It's a step up from the standard Timney. A couple of my other varmint hunting buds bought them and like them.

We have two calvin elite triggers, sturdy, both came set around 8oz, were not designed to go lighter will go higher. break like glass, never a failure, great triggers.

I have two on varmint rigs set at 1.5lbs. I've had no issues with them and think they do a good job at the price point.

I bought one after Don Geracie recommended it to me and it made my bolt really hard to openon a 700 single shot action. That was before Don put a barrel on it. He put a jewell in and solved my problem.

I have a single stage in my PRS gun, set at 1.5# and like it now. No stupid antics from it. Can't complain about it. Next step for me was the$400 Tubbs T7.

bought one when the elite came out and put it on the rifle after to making it fit a lefthand rifle.. Had it on for about an hour and grabed a jewell trigger off of another rifle that I would shoot less and replaced the elite..Overall its a good trigger for the money but its not as smooth as the jewell but its what you get use to......

The best option for any Timney trigger is to place it on a hard surface & forcefully lower a 4Lb hammer down onto it to get the POS out of circulation.

Tubb T7T-MIM'd JUNK!

When the trigger breaks you want the top lever to drop and let the cocking piece fall as freely as possible. The more spring pressure keeping the top lever up the more drag on the cocking piece/firing pin. The Calvin elite is one of the worst for this. I do use them in hunting rifles as they have a good break, but its for the price, not the design. I still prefer the jewell in a hunting rifle. I have personally had more failures with the timneys than the jewell's by a wide margin. I think the bix n andy tacsport should pretty much put the rest of them out of business if its anything like their other trigger.
