Caliber for new hunting rifle Q

In our deer clubs here, many have been converted to the 7/08 because of how this load is so accurate and kills like a bolt of lightening:

Rem 700
Rem brass
Rem 9 1/2 primer
42.0g of IMR 4895
130g Speer BTSP
3000 fps
Hammer of Thor on Whitetails!

I let my brother and nephews borrow my rifles, I never got them back!

My nephew when he was 13 shot two does at 300 and 325 yds, then the next day, he killed a 10 pointer at 285 yards. That rifle is never coming home with it's 6-20 leupold with target knobs marked to 450 yds!

Our considerations are fine, your fiancee likely deserves a voice in this. Considerations that look good from my perspective include .257 BOB, .257 Creedmoor & one I have not & probably will not see posted again. I am really liking the 6 ARC.

If you are like most with that short action you are looking at working with you may prefer a 6GT or 6 Creedmoor if the .243 bullet diameter is catching your interest.

If money and component availability were not a factor I'd go with a 6.5prc, set up for 140's.

Other wise I'd probably stick with something simple.
