Caldwell Rock BR, Fire control rests?

I'm curious to know what anybody thinks about the Caldwell Rock BR or Fire Control rests, especially for use in prone shooting as well as bench? I realize I may need to "add" something to the points on the feet to use in prone style shooting. I'm looking for an affordable front rest for F-class Open shooting for a beginner.

started out bench shooting with a caldwell rock br. it is a good beginner rest. have since moved on to a sinclair rest.

I tried one for a short period of time. I agree, it is a good beginner rest but I moved on to a higher quality rest pretty quickly. My current rest is a Cowan base with a Shadetree Engineering top. I really like it.

The Rock series of rest will work more than well enough to get you started. I'm not a beginner and I still use one, but it is modified. I have used a couple of the standard Rock rest and have the Rock BR 1000. I prefer the standard base.

I'm talking about this one. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/412484/caldwell-rock-front-shooting-rest
The bag needs to be replaced with a good quality cordura bag. All thread rod, fender washers and a few nuts will take care of the feet.

The RockBR base is good. You just need to get rid of the terrible rest top on it.

I did end up getting a Rock BR. What front rest bag would you guys suggest getting to replace the caldwell one?

I'm using a SEB front bag with a Shadetree top and Protektor Cordura on the odd occasions I use the Caldwell Top. Reason for using both is different forend stock widths.

Richard.

I just got a Bald Eagle front seems pretty nice so far, and they offer F-Class legs and feet. It's a little more money, not sure if it's worth it or not.
