Caldwell Lead Sled question

I had heard somewhere that it is fairly common to crack a gun stock on large caliber rifles (416 Rigby and up) when using a lead sled. Is there any truth to this story even though that is why the lead sled was invented in the first place?

I've heard that rumor about the Lead Sled and other rests like it. But I've never actually heard anyone say that in person or on a forum. Be intersting to see if someone responds that had this problem.

The Chuck Hawks website tests all of their rifles in a Lead Sled that the staff writers post. They have never had a problem of a gun stock cracking and they have shot a few large calibers. Chuck responds to emails, so you might ask him.
