Good News Folks--
We've revived our commission-on-sale program with Amazon.com. This was closed last month when Amazon terminated all California-based associates in response to a new law passed in California. That represented a loss of about $2500.00 in annual revenue.
Commission Program Restored -- Now Helps our Computer Programmer
We are now directing commissions from Amazon sales directly to JayChris, our WA-based tech wizard. Jay, a talented programmer, has been a HUGE help to the site, putting in dozens of volunteer hours. Jay configured and installed the forum software update, and he's helped the site run smoother and faster. After we had an outage a couple weeks ago, Jay enabled us to shift the main site over to a new dedicated server that runs faster, with better security and more reliable backups.
All these things translate to a faster, better, more reliable service for you, our Forum members.
Buy from Amazon -- Feed the Geek
If you need things such as cameras, cell phone batteries, books, DVDs, computers, watches, and other hardware, consider purchasing through Amazon.com. A small percentage of sale proceeds will go directly to Jay, and these moneys will help him do the sophisticated back-end programming work that it takes to run a site that now serves 50,000+ users per week. Just last night Jay was working on a solution that will help speed up our classifieds area.
Click on Amazon Ad Units
For us to get a commission, you'll need to click through one of the Amazon ads found on the site. That allows Amazon to track the referral. There is a button above (to the right of the Bookstore button), And there is an Amazon button in the right column, under the classifieds.
I think you'll find Amazon.com offers very competitive prices and very fast service. We purchase most of our computer, camera and video equipment for the site through Amazon, and right now I'm wearing a watch and shoes purchased through Amazon.
