Buttstock Shape!

I am currently restoring an old walnut stock for use at f class shooting. I Just noticed alot of people have a straight "base" under their stock as in like mastin f class were as mine is like any hunting stock. I have seen some with a slight angle on uk benchrest sites but mine is quite steep. IS the straight base for a straight free recoil?or does it really not matter because im going to be shooting on a angled mound? Any wisdon on the angle of,or lack of) the base of stocks would be much appreciated!
Thanx Josh

A rifle moves for a VERY short time while the bullet is still in the barrel due to recoil. By making the forearm and the butt stock parallel to the line of the bore, the trajectory of the bullet shouold not be affected. Shooting a gun in a stock that is not as above will cause a slight rise in the barrel as the bullet is traveling down and out of the barrel, thus affecting the trajectory.

I think that theoretically the two stocks should be just as accurate, IF the stocks were held exactly uniform from shot to shot.

The "rub" comes when on the second stock,t he non-parrel one) when the pressure and hold on the stock differs from shot to shot.
