Bushnell Universal Laser Boresighter

Midway USA has a Bushnell Universal Laser Boresighter on sale for $29, anyone have this boresighter? Does it work well, would you recommend it? I need opinions on laser boresighters and how well they work. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I got one with a different brand name but still the same junk.. if your caliber is .22 or larger get the cartridge lasers in stead

I have been using a Laserlyte for a few years and find it useful especially for semi automatics. It has always got me on paper when doing the fine tuning at the range. The Laserlyte is a bit more expensive than the Bushnell but is better quality. Of course they have to be used properly to get the best results. I especially like being able to boresight a range of calibers with the same tool.

most of those boresighters are just the right diameter for you to remove the bolt and insert them to shine right down the bore. great for setting up your chronograph too.

Basically I find the idea of using a laser boresighter to get on paper as unnecessary, you should be able to get on paper by taking the bolt out and looking down the bore. None of them are accurate enough to get you sighted in perfectly, just on paper.

However as rayporter mentioned, it is a real good method for setting up a chronograph and this is where it really shines as you can use it as frequently as you use a chrono which to me is very frequent. However, for that application, I would suggest a boresighter that sits in the chamber as it would prevent a catastrophic mistake which might happen if you leave the boresighter sitting in the front of your barrel and send a round down range.

I use mine only for setting up a chronograph. The "old school" method of removing the bolt is still best.

To keep from "sending the boresighter down range" just cut a hole in a large paper plate. Install the boresighter in the muzzle then slip the plate over it. One look through the scope with a view of "NOTHING" and you'll remember the boresighter.

Been using the "old fashioned" method of removing the bolt & looking down the bore since 1960 & it has never failed. Just sighted-in a new build/ scope combination the other day. A total of 3 shots fired & I'm centered at 100 yds. Keep it simple, it's not complicated. ;)

I agree with fds 100%,easiest way going to sight in. Just resighted in a new build also, good to go at 100 in 3 shots.

It seems to me that the op was asking specifically about the Bushnell boresighter and not about the best way to boresight a bolt gun.

Sometimes these threads need a little help staying on the topic.

That said, the universal ones are nice as the different arbors are easy to use.
Easy to get to "close enough" to true zero at dusk in the backyard before fine tuning on the range.

Sounds like there was lots of "feedback" on how well this one (and it's type) work. Also on it's necessity.

Even suggested alternate uses if one had/acquired one.

Seems the OP requested "Feedback" and got that.
