I don't know if Bushnell is one of Paul's sponsors but in my experience their Range finders and their service on Range finders are sub standard. I will elaborate below:
I bought a Bushnell 800 yard model. I had it for about 3 years.
The sighting cross hair moved out of view when one looked through the eye piece.
I called Bushnell and was told to send the Range finder and $10.00 and they would fix it.
I sent the range finder and $10.00 to Bushnell and here is the rest of my story:
In about 4 weeks I got a letter saying the Bushnell Range finder could not be repaired. They further said "someone had been inside the unit". They offered to replace it and just above wholesale cost to me. I refused their offer and asked them to return the unit. It took two more letters to get them to return the unit.
I being semi mechanical decided to take the unit apart and see if I could fix it. I had nothing to loose. If I could not fix it I could just throw it away.
When I went to open it up I found when it was manufactureed the case screws were sealed with glue. None of the case screws had the glue removed so I knew that no one could have been into this unit. Therefore the allegation made by Bushnell that "someome had already been in the unit" was an obvious lie.
Having gotten past the sealed screws I found the problem. The plastic lens with the centering cross hair was affixed into position with clear plastic tape. The tape had lost its grip on the lens and the lens had moved out of position. I moved the lens back into position and glued it into the correct position with some epoxy then put the unit back together. It now worked fine and I gave the unit to my son.
First, I will say Bushnell did did not do what they said they would do. Second, they lied to me as a customer, and as a retailer. The unit was still fatory sealed and no one had been in it. Third, they tried to sell me another product when they did not even try to fix the first one. As a dealer I could buy them wholesale. Fourth, they made me go through two letters to get the origin unit back. Fifth, the unit was originally put together with sticky plastic tape and not glued like it should have been. Sixth, they kept my $10.00 without fixing or replacing the unit.
From this experience I made up my mind that I would never buy another Bushnell product. As a seller of shooting products I will never stock or order a Bushnell product ever again. I tell customers who come to me for gun work with a Bushnell scope on their rifle to remove it and not bring it into my shop. They quickly learn my distaste for Bushnell products, service and integrity.
I even wrote the President of Bushnell a letter outling my issues. His mail must be opened and read by a clerk who file 13s his envelopes without checks inside them.
My advise is if you buy a Bushnell product don't expect them to service it.
