Bushnell Nitro failure?

I purchased a Bushnell Nitro 3 - 12X a couple of years ago to use with the new NRA AR-Tactical class. It performed well, so I purchased a second one. Having built an AR-10 in 260 Remington, I decided to use the scope on that rifle. While trying to tune the rifle at 100 yards, I was unable to produce groups better than 3 MOA. I would get a couple of rounds within 1/2" and then a couple of flyers. This persisted over about 40 rounds and various loads.
In frustration, I switched to a Vortex and promptly produced MOA sized groups.

I sent Bushnell an inquiry on their website, with no response so far. I realize that Bushnell is not considered a top line product.....Now I know why.

Another reason to buy a quality brand with a very well known reputation for having the customer in mind. Great choice on the Vortex! You can pick up a Strike Eagle right now for ONE HELLUVA DEAL! Not a high end scope by any means but they are great all around beater scopes!

Actually, i've since purchased a couple of SWFA 12x [fixed power] and have been very pleased with them. The only shortcoming is that the detents are a little "mushey". but the glass is good and the adjustments are repeatable. the 130 minute elevation and windage covers 1000 yards nicely.
I had to add a 20 MOA mount to the Vortex to get to 1000.

Excellent choice, as they are a great value for the money! Carry on.

I couldn't agree more! I have several SS fixed power scopes also. Glass is fantastic and the value is beyond stellar. Very used to the mushy turrets but the accuracy of adjustment more than makes up for it. If the like your super snipers, the Strike Eagle is identical in quality/ reliability/ customer based- just in a variable power zoom.

Edit to add, One thing I like more about the Strike Eagle compared to the Super Sniper scope is that the very center of the reticle is a very fine cross hair instead of a straight line with the same thickness like most, normal scopes.

The Bushnell brand is another victim of the ATK/Vista Outdoor pump and dump strategies. However, they do have a lifetime "iron clad" warranty according to their website. Looks like you have to call them:

"No receipt, warranty card, or product registration is required in order to assert a Warranty claim. All claims must be submitted within the Warranty Period outlined within Product Manual. USA & CANADA RETURNS: If you believe your request falls within the outlined warranty period, please call us at 1-800-423-3537 or send us a message through our Contact Form and we will help to resolve any issue."
