I am having a bit of an issue with my 6.5x55 brass. Background: I have a tight neck chamber, and have been using the Redding bushing neck size dies. I noticed that when I did that, I couldn't use the Giraud trimmer as the cases were too tight in the caseholder for the trimmer. I spoke with Mr. Giraud, and figured I'd need to send some cases that had been neck sized to get a special holder made. Haven't had a chance to do so, and today I started to load for my next match. I measured the cases, and saw that it was time to finally give them a trim, also I had noticed a little difficulty in chambering some of them) so I ran them through the Redding full length bushing die. I was surprised to find that while I could trim, it took a fair amount of effort to get the cases into the holder, not much different than when I used the neck sizer.
So, I did some searching and see that the bushing dies don't size the whole neck,I had noticed this before) and can form a kind of "false shoulder". I believe that this little bump is the cause of my problems with the trimmer. So, the question is, has anyone else run into this, and if so what did you do about it? I was thinking of running the brass through a standard, non-bushing die, but didn't want to if there was a better way.
