Burrs in chamber

I have a new 308 10 FCP I noticed the bolt was sticking but the loads were not hot. I examined the cases and noticed scatches in 3 places very small scratchs but it is enough to make the bolt difficult. The rifle shoots 3/8" groups with 168 Amax's so i really don't want to have to send the rifle back to Savage. I can't see them but if I insert a casing and twist it I can see the scatches on the case. Is there a way to polish out these burrs without possibly damaging the chamber? I had thought of using a 243 case and some polish tapping the base of the case and putting it in a drill. What would be my best option.

You may be better off with a oversized mop than a brass case, and use 400 grit polishing compound if they are really small scratches.. Go slow and check often.....

If I had this problem, I would just take it to a smith and see if he could run a reamer in the chamber and try to remove the burrs. Or at least have him scope it and see what was really going on and get his opinion. If they are small a reamer should be able to remove the bulk without hurting dimensions, and then just polish the rest away after.

I think if the burrs are sharp they will just grab the mop and be a pain. If you are to attempt it yourself, I would think a case coated in abrasive compound on the area the burrs are located would work if you chambered it and worked the bolt up and down so the extraction cam worked it in and out slightly.

Removing the barrel so you can get a good look at the chamber may be a good idea as well.

Just be careful as you want to avoid removing too steel much from the chamber.

Thats what I'm thinking of doing. I think I will use a 243 case just to stay away from the throat. Thanks for the help guys. I may run it out to the smith today.
