Burris Zee Rings Screws

You guys are smarter than me so I'll throw this out.....why the heck does Burris use a slotted screw head for mounting their Zee rings to the bases? Great product and function, but slotted heads? ???

T

I understand that you can get hex/allen head screws from Burris.Don't know the charge,if any.I thought the same thing on the two sets I have.

There is really not a thing wrong with a slotted head screw if you have the correctly fitted bit to use on them...
Gunmakers have been using them for years with out problems, until Bubba got his hardware screwdrivers out, and went at it......

Preacher, as always you are right. But I have asked that Question myself. Most of us don't have the perfect screw driver for the job but we all have a good set of allen wrenches.

Even better drill and tap to 10-32 and get allen head cap screws and you can run them up too 65 inch pounds and they fit right in the 1913 rail...jim

I've often wondered if there was enough meat to do that.

Oh yes, there is enough. I have a set on a F class panda, and fits great. If my memory serves me right i think on a 1913 rail the depth is .191 so a 10-32 is a no brainer. Just drill the tap size through both sides and then clearance dill the one and that will guide the tap. I get longer cap screws so the none of the threaded part contacts the mount and cut them off to size.......jim
