Burris Gloss Handgun Scope Question (LONG OR SHORT)

Have two Burris Gloss USA pistol scopes and trying to decide which one to keep. See description & pictures below and give me pros or cons for each. Are there any real advantages to one or the other, or is it just personal choice

One other question. Is there a way to determine thee date of manufacture from the serial number? Both have 6 digit serial numbers.

1) 2.5X-7X Long version but has been sent back to Burris and has Ballistic Plex reticle added and also has AO down to <25 yards

2) 2X-7X Short version has standard plex reticle

Thanks
Doug

If you’re going to mostly kill paper targets, then the 2.5-7 with AO would be the scope to keep. The adjustable objective lessens eye strain for prolonged periods of viewing through the scope. If you’re going to mostly kill animals, then the 2-7 would be the scope to keep. It’s simpler to use and more compact and you won’t have to worry if the AO is set for a shorter or longer distance then the shot needs adjusted for.

I have been a Specialty Pistol devotee for forty plus years, and have owned many a Burris pistol scopes along with those two pistol scopes, and found that the latter series of compact 2-7 pistol scope with the larger ocular lens has a slightly brighter and wider field of view which is important for hunting. I had a 2-7 compact pistol scope mounted on a Remington XP100 in 7mmBR that I DRT a Michigan whitetail at 220 yards.

Regarding the OP question about dates of manufacture:
Does anyone have this information?
I have a Burris 3X EER AO gloss with a 5-digit serial number and am curious about how old it may be.

Thanks

To both of you, have you checked with Burris as to date of manufacture?
