Burris 200116 Eliminator 4-16 x 50 x 96 Scope

Yes I have this scope on a tikka 243.
I like mine. No turning turrets. Just put it on target press button. 2 seconds later dot moves then put dot on animal and shoot. Glass is clear like Nikon monarch 3 scope. Not a clear as my sightron but for hunting scope and shooting gongs I don’t think you can beat it.
I have used on deer and no problem scope reads out 700 yard for me.
Used it praire dog hunting in ND and I as ranging them to 550 yards. I bet you could range long way on elk.
2 months ago Natchez catalog had a bunch of these for sale for $825.00 each.
Refurbished scopes. I called Burris they said yes we sold a bunch of them to Natchez. They have been gone through and have life time warranty on them.
I paid $1600.00 new for mine.
If I had not bought 4 used sightron 3 this year off this sight I would have bought a couple these scopes. I think Nachez has sold them all. I wish I had bought a couple.marty.

I was thinking of using it on a 300 blk subsonic for hunting deer. Longest shot would be 200 yards.
However when hunting subsonic, the difference between 125 and 155 yards, can be a 10" drop, I thought this may be a good thing to use. I have read that they may not be that good to use in early morning and late evening... prime hunting times.

Any thoughts?

The biggest shortcoming is the glass, not very bright in low light conditions but not horrible, but I think that's a function of having the dot on the screen, similar to ranging binos. If you keep the power setting at the lower ranges I think you will be fine for 200 yards, 4-6x is plenty for shooting 200 yards.
I use a FFP scope for my subsonics so I can just holdover for quick shots but the Eliminator sounds like a good idea. Maybe call Burris and ask their tech department if it can handle the low velocity.

The biggest challenge with any optics that include a range finder is the loss of light transmission. I had one of the older Eliminators. Great for making shots out to 500 yards (furthest I pushed it) in good light. For deer hunting it wasn't ideal- I couldn't use the range finder the first/last twenty minutes and I couldn't use the scope hardly the first/last fifteen. Those are precious minutes for whitetail hunting. It was awesome for prairie dog hunting and on the one antelope hunt I did with it. Also, this is not a unique problem to Burris, every range finder suffers from loss of light transmission.
