Bunnies with a 3" Pistol?

Rick in Oregon

While out at the ranch last week shooting ground squirrels, a very brave jackrabbit came cruising through camp at high speed, then stopped 50 yards out to look back (fateful decision).

I had my Kimber Compact Rimfire conversion unit mounted on my Kimber Ultra CDP .45 frame, and to my amazement, nailed the bunny on the first shot. This was the first time out with the conversion.

I'm not sure who was more surprised, me or the bunny, but I was smiling, and he was certainly NOT.

I told my buddies that were watching "I do that all the time". Uh huh, right.

The conversion unit was loaded with CCI 40gr HP's and so far has functioned 100%. In town I carry my Ultra IWB in a Milt Sparks VM-2, and in the outback it's nice to carry it with the conversion mounted and use the same holster. Good stuff! :)

Nice shot and fun to remember.

Don't ruin the fun trying to eat that thing. Tried with some I shot using a 22 rifle a couple years ago. Kind of like my wild turkeys this past year, creative cooking required.

Thanks Capt. Except for some old Indians I've met, no one I know tries to eat jackrabbits around here. "Creative cooking" pretty much covers it.....hammer flat like an abalone, boil for three hours, season to taste, then give it to your dog. Then see if he/she will eat it. :D

Now, nice fluffy cottontail bunnies....well, that's an entirely different story altogether!

Good shot Rick! It's always fun to grab yer pistol and get the close ones ...except 50 yards with a pistol is a dang good shot! :)

Thanks....that bit of front sight held a tad high seemed to work. The range to the bunny was actually a bit farther, but I did not want to list it on the net for fear of being flamed for exaggeration. Sometimes a blind hog finds an acorn, sometimes I actually hit what I'm aiming at too. :D

And just when I was expecting this next Easter. Now look what you have done.
All, kidding aside nice shooting. :)

Thank you sir, and 'WOW', I like that Easter basket! I think the Easter bunny will avoid my house this year as word from his buddies has reached him. ;)

To further the Rimfire pistol fun, here's the first sage rat to succumb to the new Compact Conversion.....silly enough to stand up tall on his mound from about 15 yards out while I was scanning for targets from my bench 'out there'. This last trip, I had as much fun with my little pistol as I did shooting rats with my Cooper 20VT.

If I run out of ammo, can I raid your Easter basket? ;)

Well, without a doubt that conversion is a shooter.
I am sure many more will meet this same fate. :)
Good shooting.

This little guy was trying to get one of my smallest chickens. It jumped through the fence and I whistled and this little guy stood up and looked right at me. I let it have a 10mm bullet right to the chest from about 20yds.

Is that like getting hit by a cement truck or what??? My only question is "Do you think the bullet performed as designed?"
