Ok so I'm thinking I want to build a 30BR for some BR shooting and just all around fun. I won't be doing many competitions that are real "serious". I want to be able to shoot out to 600yds with faily good results. I've never had any BR guns or built any for this so any advise is appreciated. I am more into tactical style shooting but figured having a BR gun in my safe would be nice. New ground to me.
I have a stock remington action with a 308 bolt sitting in the safe, would I be better off getting a new target action or having this one true/blueprinted? Will i really see a difference in overall accuracy for my minimal competition use? I know I'll need a new bolt so i guess price wise they aren't far apart. I do like thinking with some modifications I could have a repeater but i know thats not ideal in most BR guns so its very low on the priority list.
The 30BR has always interested me. They seem to have longer barrel life than other BR chamberings and are supposedly very simple to load for. Are they really that simple to load for to get one that will shoot well?
Glue in stocks? Whats the benefit of these vs stocks that use action screws to torque them in properly? Glueing seems like it would be a huge ordeal if something needed to be worked on to get them in and out. Are they really that much better?
