Where's all the powder hidden? Saw some on a strange web site I never heard of so I showed away. Probably one of those scam sites? I check places almost every day. Oh well. Merry Christmas to you all..
I've been a Bullseye fan for all my life -- however, I've found at least a few benefits to using HP38/W231 that have simply won me over. Listed below.
Similar energy and burn rate, more available load data, slightly better measure characteristics, and ummmmmm- lubricity. My measure throws more accurate tiny loads with HP38. And it may be a little cleaner.
I'd still grab a good deal on BE if one came up, but frankly I'll prolly use HP38 from here on out. jd
For some reason some of the alliant powders are not currently available.
I'd like to get some Herco and Unique, but I did buy some Red Dot as I had never used it before.
Depending on caliber, Winchester WST is the schnizzle. -for 45 ACP and a 185 or 200 grain wadcutter it can't be beat (and it is available). WSF for 9mm works really well and is available, and you already saw HP-38/Winchester 231.
I have not seen any bullseye for quite a while, years. I tried others, tite group etc. Did not make me happy, traded it for some Bullseye. HP38/231 is ok but not for soft loads in my 625.
Folks holler dirty, I don’t t worry about it, comes right off. After shooting numerous kegs of 2400, I say little about soot.
My experience with 231 VS. Bullyseye in .45ACP is that 231 is much cleaner. Shot many thousands of rounds of 231 in 10 Years of USPSA competition in the 1911.
AA #2 & 5 are much much cleaner than 231. You will give the 231 to someone that you do not like! 231 is cleaner than Bullseye, which is like shooting dirt in your pistol.
Tight group for 9mm and 40 S&W target loads, unreal accurate, CLEAN.
I stay away from large flake powders for pistol due to powder bridging in the measure, do not like light and over charged loads.
I bought an 8 lb. keg of Bullseye from Powder Valley about six months ago. Seems like they may have had some since. I'd check their website daily if I was looking for Bullseye.
Powder Valley has VV N310 at a nearly reasonable price for a 4 pounder. I shoot a lot of N320 and N 340, I like both of them. Clean burning. I wish you were closer, I would gladly hook you up with some Bullseye.
