bullets sticking in neck

My S.D.'s are in the teens I have prepared my cases by Jacob Gottfredson's Preparing Cases For Long-Range Accuracy and can't seem to get my S.D.'s in the single digits I have heard if you clean the inside of the neck to much that your bullets will stick to the case and cause this kinda problem can some one shed light on this

Personally, I take the cases out of the vibrator and run a nylon brush through the necks to clean out any residue from the walnut hulls that I use.

Buzzard, what kind of neck tension are you using? In what particular cartridge?

Low SD's are influenced by neck tension of course, along with quite a range of other factors - some under our control some not.

I typically use a one-caliber-oversize bronze bore brush, chucked in my drill-press & running at a low enough speed that let's me safely push case necks over it slowly, by hand) to clean up the insides of my resized & cleaned-up cases for all bullet diameters I shoot: .243, .260, .308.

I also try for neck tensions no more than .002"; In .308 for Palma I use even less. Boron nitride powder is my choice for a bullet lube, not for Palma - yet) in a manner similar to those who use molybdenum disulfide. I routinely achieve SD's 10 or better in the loads I develop that work best at the yardages I shoot. It takes some time and effort but it can be achieved.

I use a little graphite on a separate neck brush. Seems to make seating a little more consistent. A lot of the bench rest shooters do this.

What do your groups look like?
.

Yah, graphite or powdered mica works, not sure how mica affects barrel wear but it's sold for the purpose), or moly powder even if you don't use moly-coated bullets. I'd have to think BN powder would be as suitable also.

The phenomenon is commonly referred to as "cold-welding" & takes place between metals in close proximity over time. Most easily avoided by not loading up more ammo than you think you'll be shooting soon - four to eight weeks.

Depending on your local environment, humidity mostly) and ammo storage conditions, this kind of time frame isn't long enough for things to get stuck much.

does this not effect the powder entering the case ???
