bullets for ground hog hunting

22 - 53 gr vmax, 50 gr vmax, 50 gr sierra blitz depending on which 22 caliber I am hunting with.
6mm - 87 gr vmax. 105 Berger VLDH is second,88 gr. Berger FBHBC and any of the mid 60 gr Bergers depending on which 6mm caliber I am hunting with.

In the 22-250 and Swift, I like the 55 grain Varmint bullets. Nosler Ballistic Tips, Hornadys Vmaxs, Sierra Blitz Kings, and Game Kings.
In the 6’s, I like the 75 grain Vmax and 70 grain Blitz King. Have also used the Sierra 80 grain Blitz and the 85 grain hpbt. All of the above kill very well and will “bust em up”.

Before the coyotes ate all the groundhogs in my area for the 223 I liked the 50 gr Sierra blitz in my bolt rifle but in my AR I shot a few with the 69 Sierra Match King and it would leave golf ball size exits. When I used a 243 I started out with the 75 gr Nosler solid base and then they discontinued this bullet and came out with the 70 gr Ballistic Tip and I used it. Both were super accurate and deadly. My buddy used the 60 gr. Sierra HP in his 243 Win and it was deadly also.

Same as everything: .243 with 85 gameking, or Anschutz with one of a few 40 grain target loads.

For the 6mm stuff, the 75gr Vmax, 85gr Sierra HPBT, and the 70gr NBT. For the 220 Swift 50gr NBT, 53gr Vmax. WD

223 Rem & 22 250 Rem: 50 and 55 Nosler BT's - extremely uniform, accurate w/ excellent terminal performance. The 50 & 55 Sierra Blitz bullets are also very good.

243 Win: 80 Sierra Blitz for pure varmint hunting - an excellent long range varmint bullet w/ outstanding terminal performance BUT my favorite all around bullet for the 243 Win is the 85 Sierra BTHP as a do all bullet, i.e. varmints, predators, deer. - shoots like a match bullet with excellent terminal performance. I've also tried the Nosler 70 and 80 BT's w/ good results.

My 243s love the 80 Blitz. Supposed to hit like a lightning bolt on a pumpkin.

Just bought 500 of the 85 Sierrra Hpbt to try in the 104 freebore 8 twist.

I did a test on a water bottle with the 70 grain TNT in 243. At 3850 it literally evaporated the bottle. I found it in the weeds 20 yards in FRONT of the placement, it looked like a sheet of flat plastic. It was no longer a bottle.
