Bullet making update

Thought I'd post some updated info on my .30 cal. bullet making adventure. It's been a lot of fun and a real learning experience, that's for sure. I'd like to thank Randy Robinett for all his patient teaching and guidance. The bullets have been working well in competition also, being used in the Varmint for Score portion of the IBS Wi. State Two Gun Championship win a few weeks back.

Here's a couple of pics of some recent testing. In the 100 yd. 15 round target, the wind velocity was purposely ignored and the group was fired only with the same flag angle, trying to determine how they worked in the wind. Winds were 12-18 mph from 4:00.

This 200 yd. group was fired in near perfect test conditions....overcast, early in the morning, with no mirage. We usually have a small window of what I call 'Happy Hour' before the winds crank up.

Anyway...for what it's worth. Good shootin'. -Al

Thank you for the nice comments, Eric. Benchrest is full of people who will bend over backwards to help you out, as Randy has done for me.

Without the high quality J4 jackets that your firm supplies, smaller bullet makers and individuals like myself that make bullets for themselves would be in a world of hurt, that's for sure....'little guys' are probably a pain in the rear for a firm the size of Berger.

It just so happens that I placed an order for some 1.00" .30 cal. J4's today. As usual, Andrea processed my order in a polite, pleasant and professional way. :)

Good shootin'. -Al

Al,

We'll keep making the J4s and they will always be available to those who want to take on the challenge of bullet making.

Berger is not as big as you might think. We are just another custom bullet maker who happens to have automated the pressure sensing process and has a few more employees than other custom bullet makers. We are a drop in the bucket compared to the BIG three,or four if you count Speer).

We will keep to our roots and I hope you continue enjoying bullet making. When it gets tough, and it will) most, all that I can think of but ALL is a strong word) know custom bullet makers are dam good at the craft and also very helpful and encouraging of new bullet makers and new precision oriented shooters.

Regards,
Eric
