I experience an oddity in reloading/shooting the 30-378 W.M. I load this caliber with Berger 210 grain VLD bullets, moly).
It is generally agreed that the VLD's prefer seating against or into the lands,Walt Berger confirmed that when I talked to him on the phone about this issue).
When doing so in my 30-378,30" Hart barrel - JGS reamer) I always experience erratic grouping, sometimes two shots in one hole and one really bad flyer) regardless of which powder/primer combo I use but it is worse with ball powders such as H870 which produce hangfires,,quite unpleasant in a caliber of this magnitude)
If I load the ammo jumping the bullets 0.12",yes : 0.12") grouping returns to normal, the gun is capable off ragged one holers at 100m if I do my part) and hangfires tend to disappear.
My question is : is this normal and what is the cause?
