Bullet Concentricity-Best Dies?

So I am sure this has come up dozens of times, but I am going to ask again. The furthest I have ventured in to trying to get true ammo is with the Redding Competition seating does. In your opinion, is the Wilson type arbor press seater a better solution?

Thanks for your responses,

Tony

Neck turning your brass and a custom sizing die set up right will make a.difference.

I use wilson dies with an arbor press because i like it. Get just as good concentricity with my forsters bench rest seater

L E Wilson chamber bullet seater dies get me 0.0005 - 6" variation in concentricity measured on the Hornady concentricity gauge.

Keep in mind that a Wilson style die made to the generic chamber will have more clearance against your actual ammo and allow more runout. In theory.

I think one advantage of a Wilson style seater is the die can be made using your chamber reamer and really well fit to the ammo.

In practice, I agree with Dusty that crooked / uneven brass will always want to show runout when the bullet is seated, and good straight brass will tend to seat a bullet very straight with any quality seater. I consider the fit of the seater to be further down the list of sophistication under the category of “we choose to tighten control only because we can, but not because we struggle without it”

Thanks for the responses gentlemen. I guess I should throw in that I plan to turn the Lapua brass to .0125" after using a expandiron.

Tony.
