Bullet choices?

How woul you guys compare Lapua 155 HPBT SCENARS to 155.5 Bergers? I will be shooting these out to 900 meters.

Thanks.

Your barrel does the voting, we on the forum just get to look at the targets. Go try both and see how the barrel voted.

Bryan Litz put a very good comparative analysis of the different 155's together-

I shoot both the Sierra 2156 Palma and the Berger 155.5's.

Ballistically, there's not a lot between them - not so much you'd notice at 900 at the same MVs. As wapiti25 says, whether your barrel likes one more than the other will count for more on the target.

The 155.5 is a very tolerant bullet and works well in most precision barrels. The Scenar has a fairly aggressive secant curve nose form, but still seems to be pretty tolerant unlike most such VLD types.

Gentlemen, Out of a factory savage palma rifle, the best 3-shot groups with the scenar went 1-1/2", and the best with the 155.5 went a hair under 1/2" at 550 yds using rl-15, at 2920 or so. just one point on the curve. The scenars are finding use in old-school semiautos with 1:12. Seymour

Savage, Yes Inches. Ideal conditions off bench. Primary interest is 1K, thus went higher BC route, as cant read the wind yet. Obviously the 155.5 is a go-to for anyone shooting midrange with the 1:13 savage. Seymour
