Bullet base to neck body ??

With a new bbl. in the works I can set the length of the throat to what ever I want. So this brings up the question, my choices would be to have the full Cal. of the bullet just above the neck / body junction putting the boat tail part below the neck / body, OR I can have the bottom of the boat tail just above the neck / body junction.
Does either lend itself to the possibility of being more accurate. Or am I taxing brain cells pondering such things ??

I believe it is no as much about accuracy but pressure and velocity. If you use up case capacity by having the bullet way down in the case the pressure is greater and you won't get as much velocity. Also to help stay away from the donut area. I like the pressure ring ahead of the neck shoulder junction. Matt

I on the other hand beleive that you dont want the bottom of the bullet below the case shoulder junction... you want to sit the bullets out, not stuff them in.

In my experience a bullet seated out is more accurate. Of course with a chamber set up for it.

This question comes up alot with ARs because of mag length, cant usually sit out a bullet far enough and still fit it in the mag..

right bullet for the right chamber with the right twist makes a difference...

Like the one on top more.... you dont want the bullet stuffed in like the bottom...

Best example i could find fairly quick...

Depends on the cartridge and room left in the case by the powder used. The little 223 has a lot of bullet shank deep into the case using 69 gr in an AR15 magazine.

THANK YOU all for your incite , the example on top is an example of my " full bullet OD at the neck body junction" move that bullet up or out so the bottom of the BT is at the neck / body junction and then it is an example of my 2nd example.
The case in question is a 22 BR

If you seat them tooo far out and chamber your barrel for them like that you will burn out your lands and not be abke to chase the lands very long before your barrels toast. Its gotta have enough of the bullet in the neck to hold it good, then a throat that matches... theres a happy medium in there
