Building a 6 Norma Dasher

Guys,

I would like to build a 6 Norma Dasher but Im not sure exactly where things are at the moment with regards to brass and function.

I heard there was a MK2 version of the brass, is that true and if so is that what I need?

In this application I dont want to fire form and will go a different caliber route rather than fire form but hopefully I can get reassurance and advice on what I need to be on the lookout for to use Norma brass successfully.

Ive read about the shell holder but thats an easy work around, Im also happy to modify an extractor claw if needed, anything else I need to look out for?

The "F class" 6 Norma dasher brass is the mk2 version, or at least it's the newer version that has the regular rim thickness and doesn't require a different shell holder. The Norma brass has a longer neck, and so you either need to use a matching reamer or trim the brass. I went with the matching reamer myself, which I purchased from bullets.com along with the Norma brass.

We have one. Used matching reamer from Bullets.com as well. No need to fire form. I did need to polish the ends of my extractor, but I have the first lot of brass. Plan is to get some of lot 2 so I can primer with my 21st Century. I'm getting spoiled.

I did very little load testing. 30" barrel Barnard/Elesio tube gun. Out of the box I was getting 2975 fps with virgin brass, Varget and 450Ms. Same load 300 rounds late, come ups to 1k indicates we're at probably 3050fps on a fouled barrel.

I did notice that I can't drop a bullet back in the case after firing. One can be pushed in with little effort, but there is some drag, especially at the mouth. Cases are too new to need trimming, so .003" clearance is a bit tight for no neck turn. I will say though, two weeks ago I neck turned (gasp...) 50 cases to get another .001-.0015" clearance and shot them against virgin cases both side by side and mixed together at 600 yards and saw zero difference in any of the groups. mixed group easily held .5moa elevation with zero effort.

Is it as great at the all mighty Lapua Dasher(s)? Never shot one so I can't say, but for a highpower shooter, if you're not cleaning the target at 600 and knocking on the door or cleaning at 1k it ain't the chambering.
