Building a .22 Creedmoor from a Remington 700 .308 Action

OK, A new one on me.
I'm trying to learn about building this .22 Creedmoor.

My understanding is the .22 Creedmoor derives from the .308
and have been told that I would need the receiver/bolt face of the .308.

So is this as simple as ordering a .22 Creedmoor barrel to fit my Remington 700 Action?
Or what am I missing.

Thanks

If you want a barrel with a shoulder, which is how they come from Remington, you will need a lathe and other tools to correctly install the barrel.

Or, you can do the remage setup that uses a barrel nut to lock in the barrel once headspace is set. @urbanrifleman can assist you with a barrel and instructions.

OK, after researching and talking to my Barrel guy..."Yes" I have a Barrel guy, lol
Going with my Left Hand Rem 700 SA, 24" Barrel to make my .22 Creedmoor.
Shooting 75gr ELD-Match bullet
Set in my wood Rem 700 Left Hand stock , old school with a new caliber.

Sounds like a good setup.

And maybe I didn't fully answer your question- 308 and 22 Creedmoor share the same boltface so you should be good there.

I shot mine this morning, would shoot this evening but seem to have gotten hooked on watching Longmire….

So I’ll shoot in the morning. The rounds I loaded up this afternoon with 77gr Scenars are 2.51 inches 75gr Amax are 2.62. The Scenars are just at the lands in my chamber.

That's good...No?

Longmire or the COAL?

Both are good.

I saw you are going to use a LA. Not sure you would need the length. But it may be good if you go to heavier bullets.

COAL
Length of the loaded round. Cartridge overall length.

Yesterday my coal was longer, my bullet was slightly jammed into the lands. This morning my coal is shorter with the bullet just shy of the lands.

I don't know nor care what ever it is you folks are watching, TV is junk food for the Brain

Do this and you'll be good to go, and don't watch tv or YouTube or porno. You get the picture.
