Budget precision rifles

About a year ago I got the urge for a chassis rifle. Nothing fancy or expensive, just something to play with in a chassis format. Since I have been a savage fan for years I picked up a Savage Axis II precision in 6.5cm. It's not bad for the money and didn't cost an arm or a leg, It shoots good and for just playing around at the bench it does about as good as I can anymore. On a good day it will do five rounds in quarter size group at 200 yards which is about as good as I can do anymore.

So I got to wondering if any other members here has this rifle and what you think of it?

I don’t have that one but I did buy a cabelas savage 12fv on sale for like $350 ish with a $75 rebate and stuck it in an oryx with a 22creed criterion barrel. Just makes me smile every time I shoot it

Those rifles tend to shoot good in spite of rough factory barrels. Savage is a good choice for budget. Tikka is as well.

I agree on both. I also realize that posting something on a accurate shooting forum about a budget chassis rifle here where real accurate rifles are the norm, may not be of interest to many people.

However they can still be fun without spending a lot of money and make "good" groups considering what they are meant to be. I am also sure that there are a few of them here as well. Maybe not chassis rifles but still very accurate factory rifles. I can think of one that got away from me here on this forum in a weak moment of " I don't know why I did that".
