Buckmark disconnector pin ineffective

The new disconnector pin won't stay put. Neither would the original. If it goes in to far the trigger drags or won't fire. Not in far enough and the pin would fall out if the grip didn't prevent that from happening.
It has a tandom cross gear box and trigger which shouldn't make any difference.
Seems like the pin should be longer.

I am wondering if the old pin hollowed out hole diameter, being loose. It has been malfunctioning off and on for sometime now. Or it is a manufacturing defect.
