BSA Question

does anybody know anything about the BSA contender 6-24 X 40 rifle scope. im thinkin about gettin one for varmint hunting and some long range shooting. just gonna see what you guys think about them, or if anybody has owned them. GOOD??? BAD????

I had a BSA for a short time. I returned it and got a Tasco Varminter 6-24x42mm. It's been far better than the BSA. It has been on a few different rifles, the heaviest recoiling being a 6-284, and it still holds zero and tracks decently. It's almost 3 years old now and is on my .222. I use it regularly out to 300yds and it has clear glass for the price.

You will be hard pressed to find better glass for $125.

Honestly, a paper towel tube with a string X in the middle would be better than a BSA.

Had the same scope on a silhouette rifle, would not focus. Sent it back, they replaced it. The replacement was even worse. Couple years later, at a rimfire silhouette match, a lady had same scope on her Anschutz. I asked her how she liked it and her response was: "Its a piece of (blip).

You get what you pay for. I've got 3 different BSA scopes and I like them. Just wish they were a little higher power.
I would rather have a $150.00 BSA scope on my rig when it got knocked to the ground and got damaged than a $2000.00 Night force!
It's your $$. Spend it on what "you" want.

ok i bought the scope off of my buddy this mornin, (cheap) brand new still in the box. put it in my gun, and had it sighted in at 200 yards in 6 shots. its clear, focus works good, and tracks pretty good. didnt have too much time so i couldnt do the box test. but maybe i can get to it this weekend.
