Browning Rifles

I like a Brownings, only owned one bolt which was a 25-06 Abolt that I wore out, I have three 1885s now. I sold a Miruko 71 that was also a very sweet rifle. Ive wanted to try some of their ew offerings too.

Congrats on your two rifles, looks like your in good hands.

Also, Congrats to your son Adam, great pic!

My experience:
Abolt in 300wsm, Hardest kicking rifle I've owned - stock just didn't fit me I guess
338 BAR - full-house elk loads w 250ABs broke something inside. Fixed and sold.
Xbolt - some fancy version in 300wm - nothing special with a poor trigger
BBR in 22-250 - cheap buy at the gun store - seems alright

A few more data points in case anyone is interested:

I owned several over the years. Not all good shooters but most were. I prefer the older A-bolt to the newer X-bolts. Had one very good shooting 1885 in 22-250 and one lemon in 7MM.

Never met a Browning I cared for. However, if I were ever to run into a B78, I am afraid I would have to empty my wallet in a split second!

I do admit that is the one thing that troubles me too. I did replace the trigger on the 7Mag and it is absolutely sweeeeet now. I have a new trigger that I will put on the 30-06 as well. But that is all that troubles me. Aftermarket upgrades are not my thing... except I am glad the triggers can be bought! And McMillan makes a good stock for them too! :)

I have shot a browning .338 for years and have killed alot of elk with it. The trouble with it was great 3 shot groups then barrel got so hot it went to hell! I have reloaded a lot of shells for people in alot of calibers same thing and no not loading hot. Last year i got one in 6.5prc man what a shooter and it shoots great all day long. I put a Jard trigger in it and what a great trigger it is! Got a nice 5 point elk this year at just under 365yds.

In 1995 I bought a Browning Boss varmint rifle, only because a friend had bought one. He had the .223 varmint and it was amazing, shot small groups when tuned, and not one here or one there, it shot tight group after group after group!!

I had a 40X at the time that I'd bought new a few years before, the browning boss varmint was a better grouping rifle. Not that the 40X shot poorly, it's just that the Browning Boss varmint shot stupid good!! With just about any load known to shoot good in .223's.

So I went to Scheel's to see if they had one, BOOM they had a bunch of them only in 22-250 varmint...none left in .223.....So of course I had to pick one up, went home read the instructions about adjusting the tuner and such. All new to me at the time........

The next weekend went to friend house to work up a load, long story short.......It was one of the most accurate shooting rifles I'd ever owned truly amazing. Couldn't believe it would shoot that good, I think it was a case full of Varget and either ballistic tip or a Vmax. I loved that rifle, I shot it at a local "prairie dog match" and won a bunch of money with it. I remember the local gunsmith who was at the match looking at it and the tuner........never said anything.

I shot the throat out of in a couple of years, because of course I shot it several times a week. Call Browning up and told them I'd like to send it back for a new barrel......Was told "we don't re-barrel our rifles & to buy a new one"........That was the last browning I owned, started re-barreling my own rifles after that, never the less the browning boss varmint rifles were beautiful and to my experience shot fantastic.....Dude.
