I’m eye balling a few rifles on gunbroker but thought I’d ask here too. I’m looking for a Browning or Winchester 1885 low wall, 22 hornet or 222. If you have one your thinking of cutting loose please PM me. I’m looking for something 95% or better. Thanks

There’s a current 1885 thread that has sparked interest.

I haven’t. I’ll check, thanks!

Edit; I found one there I’m interested in, thanks for the tip. Quite a selection of 1885s there.
I've had good luck on this site, bought more scopes than guns probably. You know the rules, phone call etc, etc. Ask for lots of photos. Lots of treasure available. You may need to jack up 2 or 3 banks a day to make it affordable.

I've got that same rifle with those same sights sitting right beside my desk as I type this. Just got it. Need to take it out and see what kind of ammo it prefers.
My first time out with that same set-up was shot with TAC-22, and I could't believe how well it shot. Miroku does a great job at building accurate rifles~!

If I didn't already have a 22 Hornet, I'd be after one of those new Ruger No 1 international's. I've seen a few advertised with very high grade stocks.

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1087957536 listed at $1075. 1/2 oct/1/2 rnd barrel, tang peep, and a Lyman front hooded sight. Sights alone sell for over $150.
That’s a neat one. I just snagged Browning Mirukos in 22 hornet, 45 Colt and 38-55. Neat rifles, the little hornet is shooting well under MOA with the first load I tried. I hope to pick up a rimfire 1885 too soon. Miruko does a good job as your target suggests!

I've got a 45 Colt in a High Wall as well as the rimfire. The high wall is a Taylor Arms (Uberti) and the rimfire is a Winchester. For the 45 Colt I developed a load using 225 grain Hornady FTX's. Those are the pointy ones designed for lever actions. Wanted to load hotter for the High Wall than I was loading for pistol and not have to worry about people mixing them up. I'm getting 1240 fps with 11.8 grains of HS-6. Accuracy with open sites is minute of deer.

As for the rimfire, I tested about 15 varieties of 22 LR. In order, it liked SK LR, Fiocchi 320, CCI SV and believe it or not, CCI Mini Mags.

Thanks for sharing. I’ve been playing around with the 45 Colt using 250gr XTPs and 225gr FTXs. I’ve had good luck with both of those out my Black Hawk hunter and Henry big boy. I’ve been experimenting with 5744, IMR 4227 and AA9. The AA #9 is producing the highest velocity with a max load. I can consistently ring a 6” gong off hand at 80 yards, it’s fun little rifle.

I’m wanting a rimfire next I think a 22LR would be fun, I’ve seen them in 22 mag, 17WSM and 17 hmr, I might have a seen a 17 mach2 also. I got out of 17 calibers though, it would a be 22LR or mag for me.

I like 4227, it fills the case better than the alternative powders. I was getting some significant velocity with it. Like in the 1600+ fps range with those FTX's. The thing I don't like about it is a pound of it does not go as far as a pound of HS-6 or Unique.

I have Unique, I’ve never tried HS-6. I’ll grab a pound and play around with it, thanks for the tip!
