Browning mk3 accuracy?

Yall I'm really struggling to spend the 1500 on a mk3 and take a 50/50 chance on it shooting well as I want. Really need it to be a 2in at 200 yard or 1.5 at 100 . I prefer to make neck shots on my deer . Iv heard thay seem to like the heavier bullets , someone told me the other day the old mk2 seemed to like the lighter bullets and the newer mk3 the heavier ones. There any truth to this ? I really want a automatic 30-06
Thanks

My mk3 does 3/4” at 100 yards with hand loads. It was picky with what bullet it likes even across the same weight class. Mine likes lighter bullets. But it’s also a 12 twist 308 with a 18” barrel so I kinda figured it’d naturally want lighter bullets.

I'm looking at the 30-06 or 308 the 30-06 is a 10 twist . So I thought it might like 165 or heavier? I like a 150 btsp from Sierra.
I keep hearing people saying it's a 3in gun with factory ammo. That's not acceptable for me lol

I’m curious - why would you buy a gun 3/4” capable when you could have a Tikka? In fact they are on sale at Eurooptic.

Cause thay dont make a automatic yet . We have times where we can take multiple hogs or deer . Iv had deer just stand there after dropping one.

Sorry about that. I really showed my ignorance on that one.
No problem lol iv missed a few good opportunities to have a 2 hogs . Then a hog and doe . Im Not fast enough on a bolt action .
Had a few times where you shoot one and thay stand there looking around lol

My friend had some of the older ones made in Belgium. He got one that shot poor groups sent it back to Browning's USA office for repair. He noticed that it was not as hard to zip up the soft case he carried it in, as it was shorter. It shoots much better after losing about 1/2 inch of barrel. There are those that claim that this is what prompted the BOSS system. If you have one that shoots bad, maybe it would not be the end of the world to try cutting off 1/4 inch a time or two to see if it helps? I know he was very happy with his when he got it back.

I wish I had a older one . Id think I'd be able to make it shoot 1.5 in at 100 yards with factory ammo. I wonder if others that say thay are not accurate are cleaning to much or something ? Some barrels like to be dirty . I have a few bolt guns that are that way .
I have a cheap ruger american in 308 that will put 3 rounds in the same hole at 200 yards with my hand loads ..

Making a semi auto accurate is very different then a bolt action. He worked up loads for his and turned some around. His wife shot his medallion grade 30-06 BAR and out shot my friend/her husband's best group. He sold it the next day. Sometimes you act like a nut sometimes you don't.

I have a mk3 dbm 308 model that shoots in the 1 MOA realm. Certainly good enough for hunting and perfect for deer drives. I haven’t handled a better rifle for running multiple game than the BAR MK3 DBM model. 18” barrel and 10 shot detachable mag. Decent weight and MUCH handier than any AR10 frame rifle I’ve ever handled. Great rifle. Shot 3 does in one go last fall when I needed to top off the freezer and it was perfect for the job. I load 150gr Lapua Mega sp’s and they are killers.

So what's the tricks to making a autoloader more accurate? I'll be happy with 1.5in at 100yards

I remember reading some place that when Browning had a rifle sent back for poor accuracy they automatically shortened the barrel

That's very interesting. I wonder why ?
The 30-06 is a 10 twist but the 308 is a 12 twist .. im set up to handload 308 already. But wonder if the 12 twist would prefer the light 150 or 165gr bullets?
Only reason I wanted the 30-06 is it's just a caliber we always hunted everything with growing up , kinda a nostalgic thing I guess

Barrel harmonics! See if you can find info on BOSS system that Browning developed. As I remember it was basically a false muzzle that could be adjusted to change barrel harmonics, Like todays tuners. Does Browning still offer the BOSS?

I have heard of it .. You would think of it worked so good why did thay quit doing it ? Seemed like a good thing . So basically, what you're telling me, is it's a fifty fifty on if i'm going to get a rifle that will shoot well or not, because of the barrel?
