Brownell’s Shooting Stool

They are showing these to be back in stock. I don’t have one but it seems like they have been talked about here in the past.
I have contemplated buying one a few times. They seem to be pretty well received but, as with eveything, there are a few naysayers, There are a few good things though....they claim to be made in the US and, Brownell's lifetime warranty. They have had that guarantee since inception I believe, but, I wonder how long it will last with so many people out there that abuse good companies warranty policies.

We used to have Montgomery Ward stores that had a policy like that. Once I was in the store and a lady was returning some kids shoes saying she wasn’t satisfied with them and wanted her money back. That pair of shoes literally had the toes wore out. They are no longer in business either.

You only have to look back at LL Bean and their warranty. They would take anything back, no receipt, no questions and either replace it or give you your cash back. So many people would go to yard sales and buy old worn out stuff and return it for cash or, for new products that they would sell. It became such an issue that they stopped (more like SERIOUSLY limited) the lifetime warranty. Then you have all the people that do what you mentioned, buy something and use it for 30 years and then, when its all worn out, take it and return it.

I don't know what happened to people being reasonable and understanding that products have a lifespan and, if you got your moneys worth, you throw it away and buy a new one.

I think marketing material promotes the "abuse" of the warranty.

Guaranteed. Forever.®

We make purchasing and returning products as simple as possible. If you buy a product from Brownells and decide you don’t need it, don’t want it, or just don’t like it, we’ll take it back any time… with a few exceptions.

I see your point but disagree wholeheartedly. That's like saying leaving your house unlocked "promotes" the burglary of your property. It takes people that can't, won't or don't understand morality, or at least common decency to abuse anything.

Because a company stands behind their products 100%, that shouldn't "promote" abuse of the policy. I have no issue with people using the policy as you highlighted above....it is the people that buy something, use it for a reasonable lifetime of the product and then return it when it has served it's purpose that are the problem. That is wrong and it ruins it for everybody eventually.

I put abuse in quotes because I don't agree with the premise it's abuse. If they say I can return it if I no longer want it, and I do just that, then I'm following the rules. I'm not twisting the truth or playing loose with the wording to get it covered.

I agree, trying something and then returning it is fine.

If you read my post, I said people that use something for a period of time that could be considered the "lifetime of the product"...in other words, they wear it out, and then they return it, that is abuse IMO.

If you buy something and it isn't what you want, doesn't work for your purpose, breaks in an unreasonably short period of time, etc...returning it would be reasonable. If you wear it out and then return it, THAT is abuse of the warranty...there again, IMO.
