Brownell's Ed's Red

I had been looking and reading about what to use to get rid of carbon in my barrels. Most all agreed that Ed's Red would do the job. But rather than mix my own concoction I just ordered it from Brownell's. I just finished cleaning 2 barrels with it and I must say it did a great job of getting most of the carbon out probably 95% in one and 90% in the other. It didn't get all of it but I think with regular use it will. Good stuff!

I agree. There are so many new products out now and some are pretty good while others are snake oil in a bottle. Ed's Red has been around a long time and is still one of, if not the best all around bore cleaner out there, specifically for carbon. I use it as a pre cleaner before using a good copper cleaner. This has worked well for me for a lot of years. I do inspect with my bore scope to confirm the results, fwiw.

I checked it with my trusty Lyman bore scope, it's the only way to tell if it works.
