Broughton delays

I am a few days from four months that I placed my order with Broughton was told two weeks ago my barrel was in the stress relief oven and was to be lapped there after.

My last Broughton arrived in only six weeks.I have never waited this long for a barrel from any of the other big barrel manufactures.

is anyone else experiencing this?

I was looking to buy a barrel about 4 weeks ago and I called them, they told me about three months and that they were expecting a new machine for barrel making to be up and running about the first of March. I think they will have much better barrel making capacity when their new machine arrives.

You certainly have to plan ahead with the good barrel makers. 12-14 weeks seems to be the norm.

Tim North is running a little behind his normal 10 week schedule. I ordered a 31", 6mm, 1:8, 5C the first week in October. I received it week before last. Tims' barrels have been worth the wait for me and my custmers. Tim North and Aloma Weaver are great folks to deal with, they have done nothing but shoot straight with me no puns intended. I am about 8 weeks into a Kreiger order and it was promised in 10-11 weeks. I expect it to be on time as usual John Kreiger runs a very good shop as well. I received a Mike Rock Barrel in 4 weeks from its order date. It machined nicely and I am fire forming brass to test it now. It looked really good through the bore scope. Mike and Paul gave very good service. I will also have to give Dan Lilja a very good rating his barrels shoot great and his service is top notch. Any of the aforementioned barrel makers and their barrels are worth the wait.

I just ordered my 7mm Broughton today, he told me the wait will be 8-10 weeks or sooner, sounds like they`ll have that new equipment up and running soon!! :D I really hope it works as good as the old stuff...

The lead time at Broughton Barrels is currently 8-10 weeks. With some orders even completed in 6-8 weeks or less. We strive to craft shooters one of the finest shooting barrels in the country. In saying that, some barrels do get rejected due to that they do not meet the standards that Tim North has established for Broughton Rifle Barrels. This will cause delays for a few individual customers. Sometimes buttons or reamers or other items used in the crafting process needs to be tweeked or replaced to keep the high standards in quality that a Broughton Barrels are known for.

To any of you that have had to wait a bit longer for your barrel, please except our appologies. It is the high standards that Tim bases his reputation on that the staff at Broughton puts their craftsmenship into the product. Broughton only wants to give every shooter the edge they need to shoot that one shot of a life time or the smallest group possible.

I also thankyou as I am one of those customers who is waiting in the 16th week.I orderd a Krieger from a vendor just in case. I will now have a back up barrel when the time comes.

Aloma, thanks for come on board. I guess I like your barrels, you and Tim, because I've ordered 4 in the last 9 months. Have a great day and see you in Apr.!!!!!!!!!!

It could be worse. I waited 6 months for a .264 barrel from Krieger last year only to be told that they screwed it up and had already started another caliber run. Told me it would be another 3 months. You can imagine my response...

Aloma:

Always good to see your presence on the boards. That means you are still in touch with what is going on. You just need to start shooting. Tim needs some competition from the inside of Broughton. I will have the Broughton 6mm barrel I just received turned, threaded, chambered, crowned and installed in the next week. I have my dies, bushings, cases, and am waiting on bullets.

John Skowron was just over 2200 rounds through his 6mmBRX and it is still shooting ten shot groups under .5. He shot a 199 at 1000 yards last week at the practice match. He accepts responsability for the dropped point. He said it was not the equipment. He has his second 6mmBRX back and is preparing it for the upcoming season.

Keep Tim working and off the phone. I know the barrels are good he does not need to tell me. Hope you got a laugh from that.

Well I finally got a barrel yesterday that was ordered on July 17-06. I got another barrel in 8wks from the same order date. I don't know what happened but some thing are worth waiting for. I guess if ya ant in a hurry. Sometimes things happen.

No matter how long it takes Broughton barrels are worth the wait. Tim and Aloma are a class act. World record barrels from world class people.

As Larry says, Tim and Aloma are great to work with. I have 8 Broughton barrels in the safe or on guns and EVERY ONE shoots as good or better than any barrel I have owned.

I think it is safe to say that you can get great barrels from others as well, but no barrel maker has give me the personal service I have enjoyed with Broughton.

With all the barrel makers, it is a good idea to place your orders well before you need a new barrel and, when possible, order at least two so you can have them chambered at the same time -- when the first one is "shot out" screw on the second and place a new order at that time. :D

I came home from work this morning and the Broughton was propped up against the back door.

Thankyou Tim North and associates.

Mr Hardy, what you said is exactly what I am going to do.

Larry, these barrels are very good and I am very pleased with the first one I am shooting.I have never met Tim but I will take your word on it as far as the mans integrity.
