Broken Adjusting Screw on Remington Trigger

I was adjusting the trigger pull on my older Remington trigger and one of the "ears" broke off. Other than drilling/Easy Out, Does anyone have suggestions? I should have put something on it to losen the thread lock compound first. Would Kroil work? If I get the screw out, where do I get a replacement screw, hopefully an Alan head. Thanks in advance.

Most likely rusted in place. I have one just like it. Heat and kroil are your friend.
Have not attempted to fix mine yet.
Good luck.

Paul
The screw was turning, but was hard to turn. Got it to three pounds and then the lip broke off. Could be rust.I will lube it up and see if I can do anything with one lip. May be a long nose.

Good used take out triggers can be had pretty inexpensively. Potentially you could get the good used trigger, and save yours for parts. May not be the answer you want, but will result in a safer, more reliable trigger in the long run.

I already have two Timney triggers on order. This is a pre X-Mark.

I shattered my 700 trigger messing with it...I've never been so glad to break something!
The next week I was shooting a Jewell trigger.

Well, I was able to remove the screw by drilling and an EZE Out. I checked with Brownell's and they do not sell the screw. Looks to be a 8x40.

I think you'll find that the thread is actually 6-40. I've used scope base mounting screws in several 700 triggers. Note that 'Normal' number '6' scope base screws are 6-48, though. These Brownell ones work great and give you a nice Torx head for adjustment. Shorten as needed.

Good shootin' -Al

P.S. If you can't find anything, I've got a bunch of dead 700 parts triggers here...be happy to drop a screw in the mail to you.

Al,
How do you reduce the end of the screw so the spring will fit on it?
I've cut down a little 'stem' on the end with my small lathe on a few. And on others, just filed the end of the screw nice and flat so the spring sits squarely against it. No difference in function either way on the ones I've done. -Al
