Bristles on a bore brush for 0.172" bore?

Hello,
What's the normal diameter of a bore brush for a 17cal brush?
I bought one labeled as 17cal and it got stuck in the throat area...couldn't push it through...pulled it out with some serious resistance...measure it and my calipers say 0.211" !!!
Is that normal? Can a bronze brush hurt the bore?

That sounds more like a 20 caliber brush to me.

That's what I was thinking...but I just went to the store, picked up the one that said 17cal bronze brush...never bothered to check it until it wouldn't work...

if you have to remove one again, try twisting it before pulling the bristle lay over,
i would use that brush for cleaning your chamber carbon ring now.
i do not think you would have damaged the bore, but you could always get it scoped by a smith if your worried.
